ALBION, NY,
July 15, 2008 -- New York State Assemblyman Stephen Hawley of the 139th
Assembly District has received a Civil Air Patrol appointment to the New
York Wing Legislative Squadron, with the rank of major.
On hand for the appointment ceremony were Lt. Col. Terry LeFeber, the wing's
director of logistics; Lt. Col. Andrew Liddle, wing government relations
advisor, and Maj. Gerry Marketos, wing government relations assistant.
The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the search-and-rescue, aerospace education and
cadet mentoring auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Major Hawley joins other
state legislators who believe in CAP and its service to New York and the nation.
"Steve Hawley has long been a strong supporter of the New York Wing's Finger
Lakes Group, and were proud to have him as a member of the legislative
squadron," said Lt. Colonel Liddle.
Assemblyman Hawley served seven years in the Ohio Army National Guard and
reserves, earning the rank of first lieutenant.
Assemblyman Hawley has a long history of community and public service having
previously served in the Genesee County Legislature and on several boards
for civic and educational institutions. Besides CAP Hawley supports the
Genesee YMCA, United Way
and the American Legion.
